The Indian Government comes up with various schemes to highlight and focus on the welfare of the citizens. These schemes can be central, state level or joint collaboration of both i.e. center and state.
The Central Sector Scheme funded by the Union Government and implemented by center directly. In the following decades huge number of schemes introduced some on state level, some of central level depending on the funding and implementing agencies.
The main objective of government schemes of India is to develop economic condition of the country, provide financial support to the citizens, provide employment, health services, insurance schemes, loan services, etc.

Central Schemes or Central Sector Schemes
- These schemes hundred percent funded by central government.
- Implemented by central government.
- Mainly focus on central government.
Centrally Sponsored Scheme
The centrally sponsored schemes implemented by both the central and state government and the ratio of 90:20 or 75:25 or 50:50 funded jointly by the both central and state government and the state government implements these schemes.
Centrally Sponsored Scheme Funding Ratio
Core of the Core Centrally Sponsored Scheme Schemes: These schemes come under particular financial cooperation by states.
Core Schemes:The funding ratio for North Eastern States and Himalayan States between the centre and state are as follows 90:10 and for the other Indian states is 60:40, for Union Territories (without legislature) the center cooperation is 100%.
Optional Schemes:The funding ratio for North Eastern States and Himalayan States between the centre and state are as follows 80:20 and for the other Indian states is 50:50, for Union Territories (without legislature) the center cooperation is 100% and for Union territories with legislature the ratio is 80:20.
